The Creative Process:

Commissioning a pair of personalised glasses is a highly collaborative process that involves a number of stages.

Get in touch by phone or email. with your ideas, inspirations and specificaitons. I will provide an approximate quote for hand-crafting your glasses.

Design Consultation Meeting - talking eyewear.

The first and most important meeting is a 20- to 60-minute, one-on-one meeting with me, to gain an understanding of your needs, your style and your personality. There will be face measurements and photos of you during this meeting, along with an opportunity to try on templates and examples to help you visualise the finished pair.

Bring your ideas for the project and examples of your previous glasses (such as photos, sketches or the glasses themselves) to this meeting to discuss what you like or dislike about each pair. Your current prescription is very helpful as this can guide some design choices.

Creating the concept

After the Design Consultation Meeting, I will develop for you a :

  • Concept design incorporating your measurements, creative vision and any other requirements

  • Digitised 3D model in Fusion 360

  • Digital design overlay onto your photo showing accurate shape, colour and size of frames.

Design concept and digital model will be delivered usually within three weeks of the Design Consultation meeting.

Design Review and trying on the prototype

This is your chance to review the design and make any tweaks before prototyping commences.

Once you are happy with the design, a prototype of your glasses will be physically constructed..

At our second meeting you will try on the prototype, make final fitting adjustments and sign-off on the design. You can suggest small design changes at this stage, but significant changes will necessitate another round of prototyping and will incur an additional fee.

Making the frames

Your signed-off design is hand cut at my studio workshop in Marrickville. Manufacturing and construction times vary according to the design, and materials. You will be provided an indicative timeframe for completion and will be updated on progress with photos via text or email. The average timeframe for completion of construction is 6 weeks.

Delivery & Final Fitting Meeting

At our third meeting, final fitting adjustments will be made to the finished pair of glasses to achieve a perfect fit and balance on your face. If you are sourcing your lenses through me, they will be fitted after this meeting.

Your Investment:

Typically, the cost is from $1000 to $1500 depending on your design specifications and chosen materials. You will receive:

  • Bespoke glasses hand-made to your design

  • Expert fitting and balancing to your face

  • Spectacle case and cleaning cloth

  • 12-month warranty against manufacturing faults and defects

Warranty: All frames come with a 12-month warranty against manufacturing faults and defects. Due to the handmade and sometimes rare or organic nature of some of the materials used in the manufacture, any repairs made may differ slightly to the original pair.

Thank you for letting me handmake your eyewear. A pair of spectacles is more than just a frame with a pair of lenses fitted, it is something that lets you show the world who you are and express your personality and look.
